Vacheron Constantin Drops Two New Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin
Vacheron Constantin has given its Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin collection a shiny new makeover with two new models, showcasing new dial colors that elevate this sporty yet sophisticated timepiece. Available in pink gold with a matching golden-toned dial and white gold with a rich burgundy lacquer dial, these watches embody the Maison’s spirit of exploration and innovation. Inspired by the Maltese cross emblem, the Overseas line has long appealed to adventurers and connoisseurs alike, and these ultra-thin marvels perpetuate Vacheron Constantin’s legacy of precision watchmaking since 1755.

The pink gold model (Reference 4300V/220R-H144) features a 41.5 mm case crafted from 18K 5N pink gold, harmoniously paired with a sunburst satin-finished dial in a golden-toned translucent lacquer. This tone-on-tone aesthetic is subtly accented by a blue minutes track, adding a touch of vibrancy to the chic design. The moon-phase display, also in pink gold, depicts golden moons against a starry backdrop, while the hour-markers and hands are highlighted with blue Super-LumiNova® for enhanced legibility in low light.

In contrast, the white gold variant (Reference 4300V/220G-H151) offers a bolder palette. Its 18K white gold case frames a burgundy lacquer dial with a sunburst satin-finished base and velvet-finished flange. White gold hour-markers and hands, again accented with blue Super-LumiNova®, provide striking contrast, as does the burgundy moon-phase disc with white gold moons. This model exudes a refined intensity, perfect for those seeking a blend of warmth and cool sophistication.
Both watches measure a remarkably slim 8.1 mm thick, making them exceptionally comfortable on the wrist despite housing one of watchmaking’s most complex complications. The cases are water-resistant to 5 bar (approximately 50 meters) and include a soft iron casing ring for anti-magnetic protection, ensuring reliability in diverse environments. A transparent sapphire crystal caseback reveals the intricate mechanics within, inviting admiration of the craftsmanship.
True to the Overseas collection’s ethos of adaptability, these timepieces offer effortless style transitions. Each comes with an 18K gold bracelet featuring half Maltese cross-shaped links in polished and satin-brushed finishes, secured by a triple-blade folding clasp with push-pieces and a comfort-adjustment system. For a more casual vibe, two interchangeable rubber straps are included—no tools required for swapping.
The pink gold model pairs with blue and white rubber straps, allowing for a sporty pop of color or a neutral, understated look. Meanwhile, the white gold version includes burgundy and white options, echoing the dial’s richness or harmonizing with the case’s cool tones. This “one watch, three styles” approach makes the Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin an ideal companion for globetrotters, seamlessly shifting from boardroom to beach.

At the core of these watches beats the Manufacture Calibre 1120 QP/1, a self-winding mechanical movement developed in-house by Vacheron Constantin. Measuring just 4.05 mm thick with a 29.6 mm diameter, this ultra-thin powerhouse comprises 276 components and 36 jewels. It operates at 2.75 Hz (19,800 vibrations per hour) and provides a 40-hour power reserve, all while driving a perpetual calendar and moon-phase display.
The perpetual calendar is a testament to horological ingenuity, automatically accounting for varying month lengths and leap years without manual adjustment until 2100 (and only for non-leap centenary years thereafter). Indications include hours, minutes, day of the week, date, month, a 48-month leap-year counter, and precise moon phases. The 22K gold oscillating weight, adorned with a compass rose motif, symbolizes the collection’s exploratory heritage.
Through the caseback, one can appreciate the Haute Horlogerie finishing: Côtes de Genève, straight-graining, chamfering, and circular-graining that enhance light play across the movement. Every component, visible or not, receives meticulous attention, underscoring Vacheron’s commitment to excellence. Both models bear the prestigious ‘Poinçon de Genève’ certification, guaranteeing superior quality and craftsmanship.
