Luxury auction house Sotheby’s are set to put a Vacheron Constantin white gold and emerald-cut diamond set bracelet watch under the gavel. Art Info reports that a King Kalla will be up for sale as part of the Important Modern Watches and Clocks auction taking place in Hong Kong on May 28.

Set with 192 dazzling emerald-cut diamonds and weighing an impressive 101.27 carats, this rare timepiece is considered the “King” of Vacheron Constantin’s Kalla series. The difficulty of finding matching top-quality diamonds for this design means that fewer than 10 pieces were ever produced, making this circa-1990 timepiece extremely rare.
An 18k white gold polished case houses a Caliber 1052 nickel lever movement with mono-metallic balance. The pavé-set dial features 32 step-cut diamonds, while the 4-row tapering link bracelet and clasp are set with a total of 160 step-cut diamonds, weighing in at 101.27 carats. The case, dial, and movement are signed.
When Sotheby’s auctioned a King Kalla during a 2007 auction, the lot sold for HKD$5,479,500 (approximately US$70,5913). Although Sotheby’s has not yet confirmed details or estimates for the lots involved in the upcoming Important Modern Watches and Clocks auction, this watch will likely fetch a tidy sum.
