Jewellery collections from the House of Chanel are traditionally inspired by symbols dear to ‘Mademoiselle,’ as Gabrielle Chanel was known:  the camelia, constellations, lucky shooting stars, or the City of Venice and its Lion, also emblematic of her birth sign, have been sources of recurrent themes throughout the years.

The Haute Minute

Chanel introduces the "Signature de Chanel" High Jewellery collection, which takes inspiration from the house's iconic quilted pattern.

Last spring, Chanel jewellery welcomed a new source until then identified with Chanel Couture.  With the introduction of the fine jewellery “Coco Crush” collection, the instantly recognizable quilted pattern stitched onto Chanel shoes, jackets and the iconic 2.55 bag, inspired by stable lads’ jackets from the equestrian world also dear to Gabrielle Chanel, was visibly marked on the white and yellow gold rings and cuff bracelets that comprised the collection.

If we were charmed last year by “Coco Crush, the new High Jewellery ”Signature” collection takes our breath away.  Entirely dedicated to the quilted pattern that has become an essential element, a “signature” of the Haute House of the Place Vendôme, the collection consists of forty-eight new pieces of fluid lines, curves and volumes that gracefully wrap around our necks, fingers or wrists.

Signature de Perles necklace in 18K white gold set with a 3.4-carat emerald-cut diamond, 717 brilliant-cut diamonds for a total weight of 38.22 carats and Japanese cultured pearls

Sensual and flexible, graphic and refined, 48 necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings and watches are grouped under ten themes.  With white gold and diamonds forming the basis of the collection, azure blue sapphires and aquamarines add a touch of contrast here and there, while pearls, grey mother-of-pearl marquetry and rock crystal complete the variations on the quilted pattern that transforms every piece into a material that is irresistibly touchable.

Signature Ultime bracelet set with a 1-carat brilliant-cut diamond, 265 square-cut sapphires for a total weight of 66 carats and 221 brilliant-cut diamonds for a total weight of 7.7 carats.

“Elegance is line,” Mademoiselle Chanel used to say when giving greater fluidity and freedom to her silhouettes. The quilted pieces of the “Signature de Chanel” collection attest to the observation and still fitting advice proferred by the Great Lady of couture and haute jewellery many years ago.
