Florence-based luxury watchmakers Officine Panerai have released the impressive Luminor Submersible 1950 Amagnetic 3 Days Automatic Titanio.
This new watch has been developed by Panerai to withstand extreme magnetic fields: the Luminor Submersible 1950 is resistant up to 40,000 A/m (ampere per meter). This impressive technical build allows the watch to take more than eight times the magnetic field resistance norm specified by the international standards of the Normes de l’Industrie Horlogère Suisse. Panerai achieved this unparalleled new resistance by placing a special case made of soft iron of the highest purity immediately beneath the dial; this case forms a Faraday cage to divert the flow of magnetic fields away from the internal movement mechanisms.
In a world where everyday life means exposure to the magnetic field of computers and mobile phones, the Luminor Submersible 1950 will not just be a favorite in extreme situations. This watch neutralizes the magnetic fields which can wreak havoc with the functions of many timepieces. Inside, the P.9000 automatic movement provides 3 three days’ power reserve. The rotating titanium bezel is made of opaque black ceramic, where the linear and dot-shaped titanium markers are fixed. Divers depending upon the watch’s technical specs rest assured that the bezel only rotates anticlockwise, which prevents accidental movement interfering with the measurement of the time of the dive.
