Hublot and Pelé Unveil Countdown to Brazil World Cup Clock

Today in Rio de Janeiro, Hublot kicked off the countdown to the soccer world’s most exciting event, the World Cup! Soccer legend Pelé joined FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke and Hublot CEO Jean-Claude Biver to unveil the official countdown clock to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, which begins in T minus 365 days.

The clock in Rio is one of three countdown clocks which Hublot’s Ricardo Guadalupe and Jean-Claude Biver commissioned for Brazil. The clocks are also the last project to have been personally led by the great Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer before his passing in December 2012.

This will be the first FIFA World Cup to take place in Brazil for 64 years. In honor of the excitement that is already building, the clocks will be installed in the heart of Brazil’s three largest cities to count down the days until the World Cup. One clock is located on the famous Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro; another on the prestigious Avenida Brigadeiro Faria Lima in Sao Paulo; and a third on the famed TV tower in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil and the city that is a testament to Oscar Niemeyer’s architectural brilliance.
