Rolex ambassador Roger Federer defeated Andreas Seppi 7-6 (1), 6-4 in the final of the Gerry Weber Open to claim a record eighth title in Halle. The Swiss, 33, had to dig deep to win big points in an enthralling final against his Italian opponent.
The win on grass is Federer’s fourth title of the year after victories in Istanbul, Dubai and Brisbane, and comes at the perfect time ahead of Wimbledon on 29 June, where he will also attempt to win his eighth title at the All England Club.
