The Haute Minute

H. Moser Cie. has introduced a new timepiece within the iconic Steamliner design repertoire: the Streamliner Tourbillon Vantablack.

With Geneva Watch Days approaching next week, H. Moser Cie. has introduced a new timepiece within the iconic Steamliner design repertoire: the Streamliner Tourbillon Vantablack. Synonymous with the brand’s very rare ethos, this timepiece marks the first non-steel Streamliner; in fact, it is created from the most precious and prestigious metal: 5N red gold.

At first glance, one knows this timepiece is remarkable and yet another design feat for Moser. The sophisticated 40mm gold case and bracelet are boldly contrasted with the Vantablack dial, which is comprised of carbon nanostructures that absorb 99.965% of all light, immediately immersing you into the deep depths of the dial. Known to be the darkest substance in existence, Vantablack® coating is actually used in astrophysics for telescopes and by the military as thermal camouflage to increase the stealth level of certain equipment or in civil contexts for solar panels; therefore, it creates a stunning dimension to this new Streamliner. Furthermore, the indices are specially fixed from the back, so depending on the angle of perception, they appear or disappear against the Vantablack.

The new Streamliner also sports the manufacturer’s HMC 804 caliber with the one-minute flying tourbillon floating at six o’clock. The HMC 804 caliber is equipped with a double hairspring, allowing for the ultimate accuracy and isochronism. Beyond the surface, the Moser Steamliner Tourbillon Vantablack is quite a poetic piece; its minimal design is a direct juxtaposition of the complexity that lies within.
