JLC Duometre à Chronographe

The Watch: The Duomètre à Chronographe features a new face openworked at 5 and 7 o’clock, and invites the user to discover its ‘Dual-Wing’ calibre. It contains two independent power reserves, one of which is devoted solely to a chronograph possessing unique functions: hours, minutes and seconds hands, a display of units per minute, and a “foudroyante” seconds display with zero reset. The watch is available from £33,400.

The Verdict: “The Duometre was always a favourite but when the Lunaire model was released with open work dial, it cried out for the chronograph model to be revisited, they did just so with a slightly smaller case size resulting in arguably my favourite watch from the Brand’.”

Chopard L.U.C XP Urushi

The Watch: Proclaimed a “Living National Treasure” by the Japanese authorities, artist Kiichiro Masumura, created several unique dials for Chopard using the lacquering techniques of Urushi and Maki-e. These works of art are showcased within the ultra-thin L.U.C XP in 18-carat rose gold. The watch is available from £15,680

The Verdict: “Released in a continuing series, this year’s Urushi model pays respect to the Chinese Year of the Horse using the incredible Urushi technique where gold dust is inlaid over lacquered paintwork. That, alongside the ultra thin L.U.C. Movement made in-house by Chopard is just exquisite.”
