Today we’re taking a close up look at the Girard-Perregaux Tourbillon with three gold Bridges. Now celebrating its 125th year, this mechanism (which was patented in 1884) is undoubtedly the manufacture’s most storied creation.

The Haute Minute

We're taking a close up look at the newest edition of Girard-Perregaux's iconic timepiece...

For this newest edition, the mainplate is now sanded to enhance the three gold Bridges and the openworked barrel drum opens onto the micro-rotor. The 41mm case is available in either pink or white gold, showcasing the three iconic arrow-shaped parallel Bridges, which are entirely hand-made, “rounded-off” (a beveling technique which gives the bridges a domed shape) and mirror-polished.

The GP09600 self-winding movement operates in the background. The 80-component tourbillon system is just 10 millimeter in diameter. The cage, like the escapement and pallets bridge are chamfered and hand-polished, as are the gold adjustment screws. At 12 o’clock, the barrel drum is skeleton-crafted to reveal the oscillation of the platinum micro-rotor.

The Girard-Perregaux Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges is completed by a black alligator leather strap with pink or white gold folding buckle.
