Alfa Romeo Disco Volante

Founded in 1910 in Strada del Portello, Milan, Alfa Romeo has been one of the most prestigious manufacturers of automobiles for over 100 years. The Disco Volante, a two-litre class sports prototype originally developed in 1952, is a beautiful testament to the company’s tradition of excellence. The 2015 version of the Disco Volante, based on an Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, was produced in collaboration with Milan-based coachbuilder Touring. The Italians appreciate sexy cars more than most, and the Disco Volante definitely lives up to its heritage, with a beautifully curvaceous—yet still very powerful-looking—design.

Converting coupes into convertibles often proves to be a hassle for automakers, but this new Disco Volante looks fluid in the form of a convertible. It is powered by the 4C Spider’s turbocharged 1.7 liter four cylinder engine, which produces 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Compared to previous models this Disco Volante has gained weight, but Alfa Romeo sources say that this will have virtually no impact on performance. Which means that this car will still get you from point A to point B faster—and looking more stylish—than us mere mortals could ever hope for.
