This is more than a club of like-minded individuals, as Grand Seiko gives members access to exclusive content, special events, and unique gifts. Membership can be obtained by purchasing a Grand Seiko from one of the brand’s boutiques and register the watch. While the club is currently online-only, as soon as it is safe again, it will also include real-life events in which the members will be submerged in Grand Seiko’s rich traditions and craftsmanship. To mark this unique milestone, Grand Seiko is also launching a new limited edition for the US market, the SBGE263, which will be first exclusively available to GS9 Club members.

For this new watch, Grand Seiko found its inspiration with the Bald Eagle, the United States’ national bird. The texture of the dial is inspired by its feathers and features the same deep brown color. While this might not be the first color your think of with a high-end watch like the SBGE263, it looks very attractive. All the more because Grand Seiko achieved a stunning play of light due to the texture of the dial and combined it with a ceramic bezel in the same color. A touch of contrast is offered by the gold arrow hand of the GMT-function, which is reminiscent of the beak of the majestic animal.
The SBGE263 is powered by caliber 9R66. Initially launched in 2006, this automatic movement features Grand Seiko’s proprietary Spring Drive technology, which gives it a precision of ±15 seconds per month. It has a generous three-day power reserve, indicated on the dial by a small hand between eight and nine o’clock. Grand Seiko will be making only 110 pieces of the SBGE263, which will be, as of January 2021, available exclusively to GS9 Club members and at the Grand Seiko Boutiques in the United States.
