Perceiving writing as an invaluable gift, Montblanc presents a limited-edition collection to support UNICEF’s child literacy programs.

Comprised of writing instruments, timepieces and leather goods, the Writing Is A Gift collection debuted at the New York Public Library on April 3. With a unifying design that focuses on six different alphabets, the line includes an original twist on Montblanc’s iconic Meisterstruck, whose blue sapphire exemplifies the collaboration between the luxury brand and UNICEF. Contemporary leather goods feature UNICEF’s hallmark blue lining, while two special Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum Timepieces boast worldtime complications that reference the humanitarian organization.

Transpiring in an exhibit space adorned with calligraphy letters and words, the launch event at New York’s landmark temple of education welcomed renowned figures in the likes of Montblanc ambassadors Hugh Jackman and Charlotte Casiraghi, UNICEF ambassador Gigi Leung, actors Rami Malek, Diane Kruger, Aissa Maiga and Carly Chaikin, models Elsa Hosk and Touriya Haoud as well as digital entrepreneur Miroslava Duma.

The high-profile guests joined Montblanc CEO Nicolas Baretzki and UNICEF’s Chief of Education Jo Bourne in their shared endeavor to provide over five million underprivileged children with quality education through improved learning materials and enhanced teaching.

Montblanc UNICEF Gala Dinner

To showcase the power of writing, Montblanc and UNICEF invited attendees on a jaunt down memory lane, back to their own childhoods, when they first started to scribble. Upon entering the Library, guests were prompted to leave their mark in chalk on an old-school blackboard and have their pictures snapped in a classroom photo booth.

The opening night also kick-started Montblanc and UNICEF’s print and digital campaign, led by Hugh Jackman, to spread the message “Writing opens up the world. Pass on this precision gift.” The two partners encourage everyone to share their own stories on writing with the hashtags #PassItOn, #Montblanc, #UNICEF #foreverychild.

The collection is available in Montblanc boutiques worldwide, with proceeds from sale between now and the end of March 2018 streaming toward UNICEF’s efforts to give more kids around the world access to better primary education.
