Breguet Will Host Innovation In Watchmaking Exhibition In San Francisco

The history of luxury watchmaker Breguet will go on display in one of the most illustrious locales in San Francisco. Starting in September, the California Palace of the Legion of Honor will host “Breguet: Art and Innovation in Watchmaking,” the brand’s largest exhibition of antique timepieces ever organized in the United States. The exhibit will feature a unique retrospective on the important work of Abraham-Louis Breguet, who is widely considered to be one of the greatest watchmakers of all time.

On display at the exhibit will be over 70 pocket watches, clocks and horological instrument dating all the way back to the 18th century during the time of Abraham-Louis Breguet. Born in Neuchâtel in 1747, Breguet set up his own business in Paris in 1775, where he revolutionized horology on both technical and aesthetic levels. He had a profound influence on the craft of watchmaking, and the pieces displayed at the exhibit represent a meeting of technology and decorative arts. Many of the pieces have also belonged to some of the period’s eminent historical figures.

The exhibit will be held from September 19, 2015 to January 10, 2016 in the California Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco.
