Parmigiani says it is the largest instantaneous date display in the watch world, measuring 5.9mm wide – 2.9mm for each numeral. These large numerals require huge amounts of energy to activate and then stop them without rebound following the instantaneous jump. This is accomplished by a double cam system. The first accumulates energy to arm the large lever, releasing it every 24 hours onto a 31-tooth wheel. The second cam serves as a brake, controlling a spring-mounted lever to keep the large date disks permanently immobile, releasing them for just a fraction of a second every 24 hours to allow the instantaneous jump.
