Christie’s Bring Patek Philippe to First-Ever Chinese Auction

This month Christie’s became the first international auction house to be granted a license to operate independently in Mainland China. Christie’s will hold its first auction in Shanghai tomorrow evening, with fine art, jewelry and timepieces set to go under the gavel.

The Haute Minute

A never-before-seen Patek Philippe timepiece will be part of the first Christie's auction in mainland China...

Our interest was piqued by a rare Patek Philippe timepiece that has come to auction for the very first time.

The Patek Philippe Reference 715/21 is a unique 18K gold openface keyless lever watch. Manufactured in 1968, this timepiece features an enamel miniature of a bouquet of flowers by Suzanne Rohr. The Reference 715/21 will be auctioned off with its original certificate, brochure and box signed by Patek Philippe, Geneve.

Christie’s estimates the Patek Philippe Reference 715/21 will sell for between CNY620,000 – CNY950,000 (approximately US$101,307-US$155,229).

Other highlights include artist Zeng Fanzhi’s work Bicycle, Pablo Picasso’s 1969 Homme assis, Andy Warhol’s Diamond Dust Shoes of 1980-81, and exceptional jadeite and diamonds, rubies and sapphires mounted by Van Cleef and Arpels and Faidee.
