Ulysse Nardin Unveils Black Toro Perpetual Calendar

Luxury watchmaker Ulysse Nardin has unveiled the Black Toro Perpetual Calendar timepiece. The Black Toro is the newest edition of the Swiss manufacture’s perpetual calendar model, which was originally launched in 1996 as the Perpetual Ludwig.

The newest edition of Ulysse Nardin's perpetual calendar, originally debuted in 1996...

When master watchmaker Ludwig Oechslin originally created the model for Ulysse Nardin, it became one of the most functional perpetual calendars on the market. The Perpetual Ludwig allowed the forward and backward adjustment of all calendar displays over a single crown, eliminating the need to return the watch to the manufacturer in case of setting mistakes. Unlike the standard lever system, the timepiece revealed the very first perpetual calendar mechanism driven by wheels and gears.

The Black Toro features this same Caliber UN-32 Manufacture self-winding movement, with perpetual calendar functions adjustable over a single crown. Rendered in 18K rose gold with a ceramic bezel, the 43mm case houses a black dial, with a second time zone featuring a patented quick-setting mechanism and a permanent home time indicated by 3rd a hand. There is also a big date in double window. The Black Toro features a 48 hour power reserve and is water resistant to 100m.

The new Black Toro Perpetual Calendar is completed by a rubber strap with a titanium/ceramic deployant clasp, or a leather strap with folding buckle.
