Like many people at BaselWorld, going to see the new Patek Philippe pieces was one of the best parts of the watch show for me. This year, I was very excited to see that the brand upgraded the Nautilus chronograph line with an all rose gold edition (ref. 5980/1R), as well as a steel and gold version (ref.5980/1AR).

It was a thrill to get my hands on the all rose gold model; the model is composed 100% in rose gold, with a gold bracelet and fold-over casp on the watch. The watch looks super rich, with a black gradient dial that gives it a very smooth look. The best part is that this watch is very well priced for an all gold watch, retailing for $91,000. It may seem expensive at first, but when you compare with other pieces on the market, it is actually well priced for any Patek Philippe collector.
Patek Philippe also relaunched the discontinued two-tone Nautilus variant this year. I am not typically a fan of two-tone, but the dial really makes this watch – it comes in blue with gold applied hour markers with luminescent coating. The blue color is very unique, which made this watch quite appealing to me personally (I would also love to see this color on an all rose gold version).
The two-tone model will definitely be a huge seller for the brand; however, I am really a fan of the all rose gold piece, and think that it is one of the best all gold watches on the market today.The Patek Philippe Nautilus chronograph line is one of my favorite watches for a guy, and seeing the new versions means there are more choices than ever for the collector.
