The watch is a split-second chronograph and contains a vertical clutch and twin column wheels; the watch also contains several other functions that are part of highest-end mechanical watchmaking.  All are assembled in the P.2006 movement, which is entirely developed and created in-house at the Neuchâtel Officine Panerai manufacture.

The rattrapante, or split-second function, uses two superimposed and semi-independent hands.  The first hand is controlled by the button in the 8 o’clock position which is responsible for starting, stopping and resetting the chronograph hand.  The second is controlled by the button in the 10 o’clock position and is responsible for measuring partial times or a simultaneous event.

The power reserve, as the name of the watch implies, is eight days.  The power reserve indicator is at the 6 o’clock position.

The chronograph has a brushed titanium case that measures 47mm in diameter; the case is also fitted with a lever device that seals the winding crown hermetically to ensure water resistance to a depth of 100 metres.   A clear sapphire crystal case back allows the P.2006 movement to be visible.

The polished titanium bezel surrounds a simple black dial; a layer of Super Luminova® is placed between two discs to allow for greater visibility even in situations of very low light.  A personalized Panerai rubber strap completes the watch, and the timepiece is supplied with a second strap that is interchangeable.  Tools to change the strap are also included with the watch.
